Static magnetic order and superfluid density of RFeAs(O,F) (R=La,Nd,Ce) and LaFePO studied by muon spin relaxation: unusual similarities with the behavior of cuprate superconductors.

Muon spin relaxation measurements in iron-oxypnictide systems have revealed: (1) commensurate long-range order in undoped LaFeAsO; (2) a Bessel function line shape in LaFeAs(O0.97F0.03) which indicates possible incommensurate or stripe magnetism; (3) anomalous weak magnetism existing in superconducting LaFePO, CeFeAs(O0.084F0.16), and NdFeAs(O0.88F0.12) but absent in superconducting LaFeAs(O0.9...

Hemoglobin magnetism in aqueous solution probed by muon spin relaxation and future applications to brain research

A marked difference in spin relaxation behavior due to hemoglobin magnetism was found for positive muons (μ(+)) in deoxyhemoglobin in comparison with that observed in oxyhemoglobin in aqueous solution at room temperature under zero and external longitudinal magnetic fields upto 0.4 Tesla. At the same time, small but significant unique relaxation pattern was observed in nonmagnetic oxyhemoglobin...

Weak quasistatic magnetism in the frustrated Kondo lattice Pr2Ir2O7

Muon spin relaxation experiments have been performed in the pyrochlore iridate Pr2Ir2O7 for temperatures in the range 0.025– 250 K. Kubo-Toyabe relaxation functions are observed up to & 200 K, indicating static magnetism over this temperature range. The T → 0 static muon spin relaxation rate ∆(0) ≈ 8 μs implies a weak quasistatic moment (∼0.1μB). The temperature dependence of ∆ is highly non-me...

Competition/Coexisitence of Magnetism and Superconductivity in Iron Pnictides Probed by Muon Spin Rotation

The presence of macroscopic phase separation into superconducting and magnetic phases in LaFeAsO1−xFx and CaFe1−xCoxAsF is demonstrated by muon spin rotation (μSR) measurement across their phase boundaries (x = 0.06 for LaFeAsO1−xFx and x = 0.075–0.15 for CaFe1−xCoxAsF). In LaFeAsO0.94F0.06, both magnetism and superconductivity develop simultaneously below a common critical temperature, Tm ≃ Tc...

Coexistence of Magnetism and Superconductivity in Separate Layers of Iron-Based Superconductor Li1−xFex(OH)Fe1−ySe

The magnetic properties attributed to the hydroxide layer of Li1−xFex(OH)Fe1−ySe have been elucidated by the study of superconducting and non-superconducting members of this family of compounds. Both a.c. magnetometry and muon spin relaxation measurements of non-superconductors find a magnetic state existing below ≈ 10 K which exhibits slow relaxation of magnetisation. This magnetic state is ac...
